The College Counseling program at Colegio Menor is designed to help students and their families in the college search and college application processes.
In Grades 9 and 10, the counselor addresses what students can be doing to prepare for college. The importance of staying focused and working hard to achieve their academic potential is stressed. In addition, students are encouraged to join activities and become involved in the life of both the school and the surrounding community. In Grade 10, students are advised on the Advanced Placement Program.
In Grade 11, students take a PSAT (Preliminary SAT) and a skills and aptitude test. The counselor conducts several workshops on the college search and application process. Students also attend college fairs and individual college visits to our school The counselor begins to work individually with students who play to study abroad.
In Grade 12, the counselor conducts workshops of application policies and procedures as well as works closely with all student to create a list of appropriate colleges that meets their individual needs.
During the year, Colegio Menor hosts approximately 30 representatives from colleges and universities around the world. Students in Grades 11 and 12 are encouraged to take advantage of these wonderful opportunities to interact with the representatives. The counselor also forges relationships with admission officers in order to best advocate for individual students throughout the application process.
